More than 5.200 ports
in a port database

In Maritime Optima, we combine real-time AIS data, weather satellite data and publicly available data. We update port activity every 10 minutes. We continuously spend time and knowledge in cleaning and unifying messy and complex data sets, so you can get quality information on any of the ports.

What kind of port information will you find in Maritime Optima?

1. Weather, tides and local time

On each port you can access maritime weather (humidity, precipitation, wind direction and pressure), and view a five day weather forecast. The weather forecast is updated every 24 hours.

You will find information on the tidal water in any of the ports.

High tides and low tides are caused by the moon. Tides are really all about gravity. The tidal force causes Earth—and its water—to bulge out on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon. These bulges of water are high tides (Source: NOAA).

Which port do you think has the biggest tide change?
The highest tides in the world can be found in Canada at the Bay of Fundy, which separates New Brunswick from Nova Scotia. The Bay's tides officially measure over 15 m. The time between a high tide and a low tide is, on average, 6 hours and 13 minutes.

If you want to view more information on a port, select "More details" and you find the port page.

2. Port restrictions

View biggest vessels seen in each port within each segment based on dwt, LOA or beam. You will also find when the biggest vessel within each segment was seen in the ports.

This information is currently based on whether the vessels arriving a port, switch to moored (which some never do). Therefore we are working with different technologies and adding other data sources to continuously improve how to detect more details about vessels departures and arrivals.

3. Bunker grades, availability and price

You will find information on what bunker grades are available in the port, the prices last time they were quoted and the availability of bunkers in the port. The bunker prices are provided by BunkerEx. We are presently developing a bunker price forecasting model related to the voyage calculations.

4. Port activity

You will find information of which vessels are currently in port, recent departures and vessels waiting at anchorage. This information is currently based on whether the vessels arriving a port, switch to moored (which some never do). Therefore we are working with different technologies and adding other data sources to continuously improve how to detect more details about vessels departures and arrivals.

You can take photos from your mobile and directly attach them to a vessel. You will save a lot of time! If you visit or inspect a vessel you can store the photos in albums and name them, for example "Hamburg visit 20. Aug 2021" or "Dry dock Singapore Oct 2020".

5. Private information

Photos and documents

Shoot photos from your mobile directly attached to any port and you will save a lot of time searching for photos and documents later.

When you visit a port, you can store the photos in albums and name them “Hamburg visit 20th aug 2021” or “Dry dock Singapore Oct 2020”.

You can store and access any type of document and attach it to any port. If you are an Enterprise customer we can sync your documents with Sharepoint/OneDrive.

Contact details

There is no need to spend time searching for contact details. You and your colleagues can add phone numbers, emails and other contact details for your "port partners" like agents, loading master, cargo receivers, suppliers etc. These contact details are directly attached to the ports, and you can access these contact details cross devices. Click on the port and the contact details from your mobile and call your partners directly.

Notes

You and your colleagues can add "a digital note" to any of the ports from your mobile or your laptop. These notes are synced to all your devices and you can easily search and find your and your colleagues notes later.

Examples of notes related to a port might be:

@Pål-Robert: Last time we visited Hamburg we had some problems with the agent. I recommend we use a husbandary agent in this port.
@Operation: Can you guys check and add information on these ports. I am working on a new COA and need to know what experience we have in this port.
